RAPS 2015
16th Annual Meeting (RAPS 2015)
2nd-4th September 2015 – School of Chemistry – University of Birmingham
Welcome to the 16th Annual Meeting of RAPS.
Registration is now closed
This meeting is aimed at giving early-career researchers (post-docs, recently appointed academics and industrialists) with the aim of developing their peer network within and outside the UK. We focus on practical early career advice from a range of experienced speakers on topics ranging from entrepreneurship and open innovation to generating funding, building a lab and interacting with the media.
Overall, the symposium is a great opportunity for early-career researchers to start their network of collaborators.
Confirmed Speakers/Panelists
- Prof Steve Rannard, University of Liverpool
- Prof. Dr. Michael A. R. Meier, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
- Dr Paul D Topham, Aston University
- Dr Stuart Cantrill, Chief Editor Nature Chemistry

Programme
There will be contributed oral, flash and poster presentations (with sponsored prizes) and we aim that the majority of attendees will present their work. For the first time this year, we will have a panel session, that will bring together leading academics and industrialists, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in establishing collaborations between industry and academia. Further details can be found here.
Venue
The meeting will be held in the School of Chemistry, in the Edgbaston Campus (Building Y2 in the yellow zone of the map). Registration will be open from noon on Wednesday.
Travelling to UoB
The best way to reach the university is by train, since there is a railway station on campus, known as ‘University’. Trains going to Redditch or Longbridge leave every 10 mins from Birmingham New Street and stop at University. This is only two stops and the journey takes approximately eight minutes. Alternatively, you can travel by car. The post code for the School of Chemistry is B15 2TT and for Lucas House is B15 2RA. Further details on how to get to UoB can be found here.
Payment
The registration fee is £125. This covers 2 nights accommodation, lunch on each of the three days and breakfast on the Thursday and Friday. For those of you that do not require accommodation, registration has been reduced to £85. Please be aware that this does not include breakfast. Please click here for credit card payment.
